Toronto 311

These guys were the true heroes. I'm not even sure what department was it (Property Standards or the "building inspector" as a legal rep I consulted with called them).

I first called 311 as soon as my power went off, on February 6, or on the next day, Friday, and the 311 operator asked for details, then told me I should keep calling MHA as the City of Toronto people cannot do much.

I called again 311 on February 13 and on mentioning that my power has been cut off, Dan, who took down my complaint informed me that this is a major emergency, registered my complaint as #2544490 and assured me that it will be dealt with ASAP. The next day inspector Christine called me, came over, assessed the situation, called her supervisor to be sure (as she had not seen an illegal power interruption that lasted a week or more before) and a few hours later, my electricity had been reinstated.
